Inhabited Vacancy A solitary figure strolled down the street in the darkening night, the swirling misty rain not at all deterred by the crooked umbrella that accompanied the silhouette. Had you cared to look closer at the lonely shadow you would have come across the tearstained cheeks of a young girl with long brown waves and a freckled, porcelain face. Her thin frame was enclosed in an oversized black trench-coat; her slender, elegant fingers fiddled with a large black bag that hung heavily from her shoulder, the tattered corner of an old Danielle Steel novel just visible.
